Does the thought of visiting a dental office make you anxious? Do you become nervous leading up to or during dental procedures? For those who have dental fears, Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Tant may recommend sedation dentistry in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Sedation dentistry uses medication to calm anxious patients during dental treatments. Our dentists can use sedation dentistry for complex procedures, or even a teeth cleaning appointment.

Our dentists provide oral sedation and nitrous oxide. With nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, the patient breathes nitrous oxide and oxygen through a small mask that is placed over the nose. Our dentists will control how much nitrous oxide you receive. Nitrous oxide will leave the patient awake, but relaxed. This gas wears off quickly, so you will be able to drive yourself home after the procedure. With oral sedation, our dentists will have you take a pill about an hour before the procedure. The pill will make you drowsy, but you will still be awake. Oral sedation may cause a patient to slur their words, and they likely will not remember much of the procedure.

We encourage you to contact our dental office today to learn if sedation dentistry is right for you and to schedule your next visit.
